Pop Tab Mania!

Pop Tabs

Goin’ green- that’s the buzz in many communities. Siouxland is no different and one of our marketing/fundraising efforts contributes to this concept- saving and recycling of Pop Tabs!! Many Siouxland schools, groups and individuals collect tabs each day and drop them off at the Ronald McDonald House for recycling.

Over 50 schools in the Siouxland area continue to participate in this effort and have already collected over 888 pounds of tabs (which translates into 1.33 million tabs!) This is only ½ way through their contest period - keep up the good work!

We appreciate the many volunteers that coordinate the School participation efforts, headed by Carole Perrin and Ann James. Thanks, too, to all of you who help the environment and help the families at the Ronald McDonald House with your collection efforts!!

We started a "MILLIONAIRES CLUB" in 1998 for schools who have collected over 1 million tabs and currently have 20 members! Each of the following schools name is recognized on a plaque at the RM House for their great efforts in collecting tabs:

  • Dakota City Elementary
  • Winside Elementary
  • Holstein Elementary
  • East Middle School
  • Dakota Valley Elementary
  • Charter Oak - Ute Elementary

"Give a Little Love" 2010 Heart Campaign

Give Love

Did you see the walls covered in pink hearts at the Siouxland McDonald's Restaurants in early February?? This was the display of love given by all the generous customers that purchased Hearts during the 2010 "Give A Little Love" Campaign in the Siouxland McDonald’s restaurants. The McDonalds crew members made a simple ask to their customers to purchase a heart, resulting in over $9800 of donations to RMHC of Siouxland! All proceeds of the Heart campaign will fund the 3 RMHC of Siouxland programs: Ronald McDonald House, RMHC Scholarships and RMHC Matching Grants.

A contest among the stores resulted in two Siouxland stores that sold over 2000 hearts - Sunnybrook selling over 2300 hearts and Singing Hills over 2100!!! In addition, Sioux Center and Sheldon stores also sold over 1000 hearts each! Congratulations to these stores and many thanks to all the crew members that made this possible. In addition, there were several employees that sold over 100 hearts were entered into a drawing for a grand prize, a new Sony Wii! Congratulations to the winner, of the Sunnybrook store. Thanks to all that purchased and sold hearts to help our guest families!

Share-A-Night

Share Night

The Ronald McDonald House gives weary families a place to rest their heads after a long day at the hospital. A bedroom for the family and large living areas provide a comfortable place to relax, prepare a meal and have quiet conversation. Families are asked to donate $5 a night if they are able. You can help families who are unable to pay by contributing to the "Share-a-Night" fund. If you would like to donate to "Share-A-Night" online, do to the online donation page and be sure to mention "Share-A-Night". For more information, please call us at (712) 255-4084 or email us at rmhscia1@aol.com.
